Caring, Sharing and Saving Lives This Christmas
Community Outreach Ministry (COM), a 501 C3 non-profit is thrilled about celebrating their 17th Annual Angel Tree Christmas Party with at-risk children in need; children who have parents in the criminal justice system. The party is by invitation only and will take place Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the Elks Lodge #2591 in Wildomar from 12:30 to 3:00 pm.
The overlooked and underprivileged children adopted are referred to us by Angel Tree a program of Prison Fellowship®, area schools and social services departments. COM also partners with local law enforcement and fire fighters; Cops for Kids, California Highway Patrol, U.S. Forest Service, community businesses and churches. Collaboratively we are bringing these children together for a festive event they would otherwise never experience. We are preparing for an estimated 200 children and anticipate receiving 400+ gifts to give them. The Christmas party is a welcomed opportunity for the children to receive warm clothing and fun gifts on behalf of their incarcerated parents with a loving message from mom or dad. COM is excited to meet the children and invite them to our ministry’s year-round outreaches, workshops and camping and mentoring programs. Jonay Cordeiro branch manager of Wells Fargo Lake Elsinore Main Inland Crossroads is bringing team members to enlighten the kids in an educational financial literacy game for entertainment and prizes. The Christmas party will include a hot, delicious meal catered by New Life Culinary Creations and the enactment of “The Christmas Story” by local talent.
Mr. Bob Davies and his wife, Dr. Mona Davies, are the co-founders of Community Outreach Ministry and are advocates for this underserved population. They have developed the “Breaking the Cycle of Incarceration” model and, in September, the couple launched their book entitled Children’s Liberation from Incarceration. The book targets families impacted by incarceration and encourages them to get involved with innovative interventions and resources to help break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, drugs, delinquency, gang resistance, incarceration and reduce recidivism. COM raises year-round scholarships for youth to escape the road of criminal behavior and divert the prison track in exchange for a healthy, safe and prosperous future.
We welcome sponsors to buy, shop and wrap gifts for the upcoming Christmas party or donate online at communityoutreachministry.org. To receive the children’s wish lists, contact us at 951-698-7650 or info@communityoutreachministry.org.
We wish you a Merry Christmas.
