For Third Consecutive Year, Altura Named a ‘Best Credit Union to Work For’

(Riverside, Calif.) Oct. 4, 2018 – For the third consecutive year, Riverside’s Altura Credit Union has been named among the country’s best credit unions to work by Credit Union Journal, a leading industry publication. Altura was ranked No. 4 in the U.S. among credit unions with assets over $1 billion, jumping eight spots compared to 2017. Altura also ranked No. 11 on the “overall” list of 50 top credit unions of all asset sizes, rocketing up from 35th place last year.
Altura is the only California-based credit union in the top five for those with assets over $1 billion, and the only one in the top dozen on the overall list.
“I am very proud of Altura’s recognition to this list as a best credit union to work for, not just for 2018, but for the third year in a row,” said Altura CEO Jennifer Binkley. “It confirms that our goals for engaging and empowering our employees are making a positive difference .”
As an example, Altura’s Chief Culture Officer Chris Andrus pointed out, “We introduced a reporting tool that enables our employees to make suggestions in real time to identify areas where we can improve internal processes. We are seeking input from staff on the front lines. This leads to greater employee satisfaction by being able to have an impact, which in turn improves our levels of Member service.”
Altura was also cited by Credit Union Journal for its emphasis on work-life balance on a number of fronts. These include monthly “Fun Fridays,” when the training department sponsors company-wide activities and games; weight loss challenges supported by strategies for healthier eating and better living; discount gym memberships and free exercise classes at Altura’s headquarters.
