Federal Representatives Secure $1 Million in Funding for Rancho Water Infrastructure Projects

Temecula, Calif.— With the recent release of the first package of the Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations bills, the Rancho California Water District (Rancho Water/District) is grateful for the support from our Congressional and Senate representatives for the $1 million in new funding. This funding will support vital water infrastructure projects in the Temecula and Murrieta Valley and will support water resilience for our agricultural and urban customers. Rancho Water is pleased to receive this funding which was secured with bi-partisan support from Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA) and United States Senator Alex Padilla (D-CA).  

The appropriations bills invest in a range of important programs which favor innovative solutions, safer communities, and critical investments in infrastructure, economic growth, and research. The funding for Rancho Water will support the District’s Upper Valle de Los Caballos Groundwater Recharge and Recovery Expansion Program (Groundwater Banking Program). As a first phase, this project will expand Rancho Water’s groundwater storage to nearly 60,000 acre-feet which will support opportunities for regional investment in long-term water supply storage.

The District received $11 million in grants over the past year for the Groundwater Banking Program and continues to pursue outside funding and grants which will reduce the cost of the project for Rancho Water’s customers.
